In West Bengal, veteran Congress legislator Mr. Gyan Singh Sohanpal has been sworn-in as Protem Speaker of the newly constituted Assembly. The State Governor Mr. M.K. Naranynan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Sohanpal at Raj Bhawan, Kolkata this morning. Meanwhile, Mr. Naranynan has appointed the Trinmool Congress Chief Ms. Mamata Bannerjee as Chief Minister of the State. According to Raj Bhawan sources, the Governor issued the appointment letter on Tuesday following Ms. Bannerjee's election as Leader of the Trinamool Congress Legislative Party. The new Council of Ministers led by Chief Minister Ms. Bannerjee will take oath on Friday. AIR correspondent reports, the Congress is likely to join the Ministry of the Trinamool Congress-led government.
