In Madhya Pradesh, most of the junior doctors of Government Jayarogya medical college of Gwalior called off their indefinite strike today and resumed their duty this morning.The Gwalior bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court had yesterday directed striking junior doctors to return to work by 10.30am today. The court had termed their indefinite strike as illegal.AIR correspondent reports the junior doctors of Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur government medical colleges are however continuing their strike.They claim that the directive of Gwalior bench of state high court is only binding to junior doctors of Gwalior.The state government has warned of strict action against striking junior doctors and has imposed Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) to deal with the strike.About ninety striking junior doctors were arrested in Bhopal last evening.FIRs have been lodged against 24 striking junior doctors in Indore and seven junior doctors in Jabalpur.The health services have been affected adversely due to the strike in government hospitals affiliated to medical colleges.The Junior doctors are demanding an increase in their stipend; reduction in their rural bond period from two years to one year and the implementation of Doctors Protection Act.
