At least 50 passengers were injured when four bogies of the Guwahati – Puri Express derailed on Sunday evening in Assam, following a powerful IED blast at Bhatkuchi between Rangiya and Ghograpur railway stations. Ten seriously injured passengers have been shifted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital while the rest of the wounded are admitted at Rangiya and Nalbari Civil Hospitals. Repair work of the damaged track is in progress on a war- footing. All outgoing and incoming trains to Guwahati have been diverted via Goalpara – New Bongaigaon on the South Bank. Seven trains have been cancelled following the accident. The undamaged coaches of of the Guwahati-Puri Express were brought back to Guwahati along with the passengers last night. A special train took the passengers of the affected train from Guwahati to Puri at 3.30 this morning.The anti-talk faction of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) outfit is suspected to have been behind the blast.
