Guwahati International Trade fair begins today

The Guwahati International Trade fair 2012, the biggest trade show in the North-East begins in Guwahati today. The 19th edition of 14 day long event is being organized by the Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam, which is a recognized body of India Trade Promotion Organization. Over 400 stalls have been set up at the fair.Afghanistan, Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt and UAE are participating with handicrafts, jute and indigenous products. Apart from these countries, the pavilions of National Jute Board and National Small Industries Corporation of India would be other attractions for the visitors.The organizers said that Japan would be the focus country as India and Japan celebrates 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations this year. The organizers have also decided to create awareness on facing calamities like earthquakes. The Sumo wrestlers of Japan will enthrall the audience at the fair. Delicious ethnic foods of North East and musical events are also an attraction to the visitors.
