The main accused in the Guwahati molestation case Amar Jyoti Kalita was sent to a five-day transit remand to the Assam police by a local court today at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Kalita was arrested on Monday in Varanasi from the Lanka police area near BHU main gate.He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court and the Assam police moved application for his transit remand which was accepted by the court. He is being taken to Guwahati for further interrogation into the case. A reward of one lakh rupees was announced on his head.A police spokesperson has told AIR Allahabad correspondent that Kalita had accepted his involvement into the case during interrogation. He was nabbed by the police just after reaching at temple town. Police have said Kalita was evading his arrest with changing of places and travelled to Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad. He later came to Varanasi via Lucknow, where he was arrested. With his arrest, 14 of the 17 identified molesters have been arrested so far.On the night of July 9, a teenaged girl was molested by a group of youth in full public view on Guwahati-Shillong Road and the dastardly act was even caught on camera by a local television channel.
