Guru Nanak Jayanti being celebrated with religious fervour & gaiety in country

Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birthday of Guru Nanak Devji, is being celebrated with religious zeal and gaiety across the country and abroad. Gurudwaras are decorated and devotees are listening 'Keertan' and taking holly dips in the Sarovars Thousands of `langars` or community kitchens and long queues of devotees were seen across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. In Punjab large number of devotees are visiting Sri Harimandir Sahib ( Golden Temple) at Amritsar . The holy place is decorated and Deepmala will be done in the evening.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Guru Nanak Dev's message of service, compassion and harmony inspire eternally.<br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi has extended her greetings on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. In her message, she expressed hope that Guru Nanak's teachings of compassion and humanity will continue to guide everyones lives. She also hoped that the holy occasion will continue to foster tolerance and coexistence forever.

His birthday is celebrated on Kartik Poornima, the full moon day in the month of Kartik. <br/><br/>In Punjab a large number of devotees are visiting Sri Harimandir Sahib ( Golden Temple) at Amritsar. The holy place is decorated and Deepmala will be done in the evening. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the nation on the occasion.
