Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has called off his meeting with Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit scheduled for July 29 in view of yesterday's terror attack at Dina Nagar in the border district of Gurdaspur. Official sources said, the High Commission had asked for a courtesy call with the Chief Minister.<br/><br/>Later at a meeting with ministers, Mr. Badal strongly condemned the terror attack as inhuman and dastardly act by the enemies of the country. Two minute silence was also observed in the memory of those killed as a mark of respect. <br/> <br/>Terming the success of Punjab Police operation as a victory for the nation, Mr. Badal described the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty as martyrs to the cause of peace and patriotism.<br/><br/>State government has announced a job and financial compensation to the next of the kin of each family member of the Punjab Police personnel and civilians who lost their lives during the operation.<br/><br/>The meeting also placed on record its great appreciation for the exemplary courage and presence of mind shown by Punjab Roadways driver Nanak Chand in steering the bus passengers to safety.<br/><br/>He would be honoured at the Independence Day function with a State Award for bravery. His name would also be recommended to Government of India for the Gallantry Award for civilians.
