Gurdaspur terror attack: BSF DG visits Punjab border areas

<br/>Director General of Border Security Force, BSF, DK Pathak is visiting Punjab border areas today to take stock of the situation after the terrorist assault in Gurdaspur on Monday. Accompanied by Inspector General of Punjab Police, Border Range, Ishwar Chander and senior BSF and Punjab Police officers, Mr. Pathak is reviewing the security setup. He is also expected to hold a meeting of sector and frontier commanders of BSF along with Punjab police officers and intelligence agencies. <br/><br/>Home Ministry sources told AIR correspondent that Mr. Pathak is likely to brief the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the prevailing situation at the border on his return to Delhi, today evening.

<br/><br/>Director General of Border Security Force, BSF, DK Pathak is visiting Punjab border areas today to take stock of the situation after the terrorist assault in Gurdaspur on Monday. Accompanied by Inspector General of Punjab Police, Border Range, Ishwar Chander and senior BSF and Punjab Police officers, Mr. Pathak is reviewing the security setup. He is also expected to hold a meeting of sector and frontier commanders of BSF along with Punjab police officers and intelligence agencies. <br/><br/>Home Ministry sources told AIR correspondent that Mr. Pathak is likely to brief the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the prevailing situation at the border on his return to Delhi, today evening.<br/>Meanwhile, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today also visited Gurdaspur to console the family members of the three Home Guard jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty and assured them all help from the government. He also visited the grieving family members of the three civilians who too were killed by the terrorists. <br/><br/>Later, Mr. Badal went to Dina Nagar police station which was attacked by the terrorists. Speaking to media, he assured that all steps will be taken for the modernisation of the state police infrastructure. The Chief Minister, who visited the operation site for first time after the gun fight between police and terrorists, praised the police force for valiantly fighting back and killing all three terrorists.
