Gunmen kill Afghan President's senior advisor

In Afghanistan, a senior Adviser to President Hamid Karzai, Jan Mohammed Khan has been killed in an attack at his home in the capital, Kabul. The key aide to the President was also a former Provincial Governor. The Police say, the attack took place at 8 o'clock local time in a western district of Kabul. Eye witnesses say, gunmen dressed in military uniform, attacked the home of Khan. Lawmaker Hasham Atanwal also died in the attack. Some time after the attack on Mr Khan, the police chief said that security forces and the attackers were still exchanging fire around his house in the western Karti Char district of the city. The killing comes after the attack on President Hamid Karzai's brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai, last week.
