In Nigeria, 16 people were killed when gunmen attacked two police stations and two banks at Gombi on Thursday. Local government chairman Ahmad Isa Hassan said seven police officers; a soldier and eight others, including bank staff and customers were killed in the attacks. He said the attackers were armed with explosives and automatic rifles. Meanwhile, more than a hundred separatists have been arrested in Nigeria's southeast for carrying symbols of the failed Republic of Biafra. Police believe all those arrested belong to a group that wants to re-establish a separate Biafran republic in Nigeria's east.
