Gulf foreign ministers to meet Yemeni government delegation in Abu Dhabi today

Gulf foreign ministers will meet with a Yemeni government delegation in Abu Dhabi today to discuss an initiative to end the stand-off between protesters and Yemeni Government.According to a statement of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Abu Dhabi, it will host an extraordinary meeting to resolve the issue.Earlier, GCC foreign ministers met in Riyadh with a Yemeni opposition delegation seeking details on a plan for Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s departure. On 10 th April, the GCC appealed to Saleh to announce the transfer of his powers to the vice-president. Yemeni President Saleh is facing protests since January this year calling for his departure.GCC member countries are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
