Gujjars decide to intensify 4-day old agitation demanding 5% reservation in OBC quota

In Rajasthan, the Gujjar agitation has entered fourth day today. Our correspondent reports the Gujjar leaders have decided to intensify their stir, in wake of High Court judgment. The Gujjars have now come up with fresh demand to provide five per cent reservation from OBC quota. They have given a bandh call in Ajmer and Dausa tomorrow and have threatened to block rail and road traffic in the entire state. Additional police force, including BSF companies has been rushed to Bharatpur. Train services remained disrupted on Delhi-Mumbai section due to railway track blockage in Pilupura. About 60 trains have either been diverted or cancelled. Gujjar activists also blocked main roads in eastern Rajasthan, which has affected supply of essential commodities. The Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot has appealed the Gujjars to maintain peace and assured them that their interests will be fully protected . Meanwhile, the Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal told newsmen that the recruitment process for filling one lakh posts will not be stopped.
