Efforts to find a solution to the 12-day-old agitation by Gujjars demanding quota in government jobs intensified with the community leadership agreeing to hold the third round of talks with the Rajasthan government at Jaipur today. A 21-member Gujjar delegation would discuss the reservation and allied issues with a Committee of State Ministers comprising Energy Minister Jitendra Singh, Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal and Transport Minister B.K.Sharma at the state secretariat building. According to Principal Secretary Home, Mr. G.S. Sandhu, the third round of discussions is likely to start around 4.00 pm in which consensus on the demand of immediate grant of five per cent reservation is likely to be arrived at. There is already a consensus on rest of the demands after the second round of talks held on Thursday in Karwari near Pilupura. Meanwhile, the state government has started collecting quantifiable data on SBCs to justify reservation to them, in accordance with the High Court’s directions. AIR Jaipur correspondent reports, the train services on Delhi-Mumbai section is still disrupted as dharna of Gujjar activists continue in Pilupura for 12th consecutive today. Jaipur-Agra national highway is also blocked.
