Gujarat's outgoing minister of state for home Amit Shah was arrested by CBI on Sunday and remanded in 14-day judicial custody. CBI produces Shah to the residence of judicial magistrate A Y Dave, as courts were closed on Sunday. The court remanded Shah in 14-day judicial custody and sent him to Sabarmati jail after the CBI did not seek his remand. This was surprising because now the CBI would have to seek fresh direction from the court for his questioning. Within hours of Amit Shah's arrest, thousands of BJP workers took out a silent protest rally on Ashram Road in Ahmedabad. Similar protests have been planned across the state this week. AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Earlier Shah had addressed the Press Conference at State Party headquarters and alleged that Congress is doing this because it has not won any major election in the state for a long time. Shah has been charged by CBI for kidnapping and murder of alleged gangster Soharabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi in 2005. Amit Shah who forced to resigned after the charge sheeted by the CBI was sent to Sabarmati jail in judicial custody. It was the same jail, where other high profile accused of Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter are imprisoned. Judicial custody was ordered by the Magistrate AY Dave- after CBI did not demand his remand. Earlier, Shah made a dramatic entry at State party office and accused the Congress for misusing CBI against him. BJP has also announced State wide demonstrations against the arrest of Shah and staged silent rally in Ahmedabad immediately after the arrest of Amit Shah.
