Gujarat: Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt detained

In Gujarat, suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was detained in connection with FIR filed by a police constable against him. Police constable K.D. Pant, who worked under Sanjiv Bhatt during 2002 Gujarat riots, had registered FIR accusing Bhatt of threatening him, fabricating false evidence and wrongful confinement.

Bhatt has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court alleging complicity in post-Godhra riots by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Bhatt alleged in his affidavit that Chief Minister Mr. Modi had ordered for complicity in a high-level meeting called on 27th February 2002 after the Godhra train carnage. The state Police said, Sanjiv Bhatt has not been arrested but detained for questioning.
