Gujarat: Surat bags five star-rating in garbage-free city survey

<span style="color: #222222;">In Gujarat, the Surat city has recently bagged the five star-rating in garbage-free city survey. AIR correspondent reports that the Surat Municipal Corporation has adopted various innovative methods for garbage management.<br />'' <br />'' Surat city generates 1800 metric tonnes of garbage every day. In Surat, 100 per cent garbage is collected from door to door and different types of garbage are segregated and then processed in different ways.  The city Municipal Corporation is also earning revenue worth Rs 140 crore by treating sewage water which is then provided for industrial purposes. <br />''<br />''Talking exclusively to AIR, Surat Municipal Corporation Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani said SMC has set up a beautiful garden on the sanitary landfill which has become a major attraction for visitors.
