In Gujarat, a sessions court in Ahmedabad will give its order today, on whether a bail plea of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt could be heard or not. The Gujarat Government had filed an application in court on Tuesday, which stated that the bail plea of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt cannot be heard when a revision remand application is pending. Earlier, the court had reserved its order on the police plea seeking remand of arrested IPS officer Bhatt till October 7. The court had last week rejected police demand for Bhatt’s remand and sent him to judicial custody. However, the police had filed a review plea on the matter. Sanjiv Bhatt's lawyer alleged that the government was adopting delaying tactics so that his client remains in jail for maximum time. AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested on 30th September in connection with an FIR filed against him by police constable KD Pant for allegedly threatening and making him sign on false affidavits regarding a meeting called by Chief Minister Narendra Modi on 27th February, after the Godhra train carnage.Sanjiv Bhatt had filed an affidavit in Supreme Court alleging complicity in post-Godhra riots by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Later, he was chargesheeted and suspended for alleged unauthorised absence from duty.
