Gujarat: Second Energy Transitions Working Group meeting under India's G20 Presidency begins in Gandhinagar

The Second  Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting under India's G20 Presidency began today at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. <br />'' <br />'' Around 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and International Organizations are participating in the three-day meeting. The delegates will engage in detailed deliberations on the priority areas during the meeting.<br />''  <br />'' Minister of State for AYUSH and Women and Child Development Dr Mahendrabhai Munjpara delivered his special address during the inaugural session. In his address, Dr Munjpara stressed on the need to work together to accelerate the transition to clean energy and promoting sustainable growth.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister emphasized on research and development of new and innovative technology to promote an advanced clean energy and making it cost-effective and affordable. Dr Munjpara added that G20 nations should collaborate and work together to support each other in this regard.<br />'' <br />'' On the occasion, in his address the ETWG Chair and Secretary in the Ministry of Power Alok Kumar spoke about the need to address the threat of climate change saying that it is crucial for us to transition in a cleaner and sustainable source of energy. He added that India is leading it's ways to achieve energy transition and gearing up to address the challenges related technological gaps.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Kumar informed that India has come out with a draft framework for Indian Carbon Market and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has selected and awarded more than 80 Giga Watt solar cell and module manufacturing capacities.<br />'' <br />'' The 1st Energy Transition Working Group meeting was held in Bengaluru in the month of February this year where member countries supported the six identified priority areas by the Indian Presidency, These priorities areas include Energy transition through addressing technology gaps, Low-cost financing for energy transition and Energy security and diversified supply chains.
