In Gujarat, about 60 percent polling is recorded for the elections of 24 District Panchayats, 208 Blocks Panchayats and 53 Nagar Palikas on Thursday. According to preliminary reports, Polling in District Panchayats and Block panchayats were remained 58 to 60 percent, while Polling in Nagarpalikas were remained 60 to 62 percent. The fate of about 17 thousand candidates contesting for 6765 seats was now locked in the EVMs. Quoting State Election Commission, AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that barring few incidents of technical faults in EVMs, the polling was remain by and large peaceful.
