Gujarat Lions beat Rising Pune Supergiant by 7 wickets

Gujarat Lions defeated Rising Pune Supergiant by seven wickets in an Indian Premier League match at Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot tonight. Chasing the challenging total of 172, Gujarat Lions got off to a blazing start with McCullum 49 and Dwayne Smith 47 sharing quick fire 94 runs for the opening stand in just 53 balls.Skipper Suresh Raina 35 not out and Aaron Finch 33 not out then joined hands and stitched an unbeaten 61-run fourth wicket stand to overwhelm the target with two overs to spare. Finch finished off the proceedings in great style, clobbering Lockie Ferguson for two huge hits over the fence to get Gujarat Lions' campaign back on track after defeats in the opening two matches. Earlier, Rising Pune Super Giants put into bat, made 171 for eight. Steven Smith 43 and Manoj Tiwary 31 were the main scorer for Pune team. Right-arm pacer Andrew Tye, playing his first IPL match,returned with impressive figures of 5 for 17 from his four overs to keep Supergiant undercheck. Tye's was the second hat-trick of the day in the history of IPL after Royal Challengers Bangalore's Samuel Badree 4 for 9 achieved the feat earlier in the day against Mumbai Indians.
