In Gujarat, Kutch district is gearing up for rainwater harvesting in a response to a personal letter received from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, PM had requested all 620 Village Chiefs, Sarpanchs to conserve rainwater during the forthcoming monsoon.<br />'' <br />'' The Prime Minister said in his letter that each Village Chief should convene a Gram Sabha to ensure total public participation for devising ways  to collect and retain each drop of rainwater from run off and conserve it.<br />'' <br />'' Suresh Chhanga, Village Pradhan and Sarpanch, Kunariya Gram Panchayat, says deepening of village pond is completed and rain water collection structrures are erected in public and private residential property.<br />'' <br />'' Iqbal Ghanchi, Village Pradhan, Mota Angiya Gram Panchayat, has said water has always been a scarce resource for Kutch, so Prime Minister has rightly said rain water showered on a village must be conserved in own village only. Being a rain deficit region, Kutch district is being provided Narmada waters through pipeline, but sustainable solution is to harness rainwater and made village self reliant in utilization of own water resources. <br />''  <br />
