The Gujarat High Court has reserved its order on a petition filed by suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, seeking to quash a criminal complaint against him in a 1994 case of alleged custodial torture. The court reserved the order on the petition after completion of arguments by all parties.

In 2010, a stay was granted on further proceeding in connection with a complaint against Bhatt. He along with two other policemen have been accused of physically and mentally torturing Naran Jadav, the complainant, in police custody in Porbander.
