Gujarat High Court today issued a fresh notice to state Lokayukta Retired Justice R A Mehta. The notice was issued by a division bench of Justices Akil Kureshi and Sonia Gokani after the earlier was not served on him. Justice retired R.A.Mehta was appointed as Lokayukta by the Governor allegedly bypassing the Narendra Modi Government. State government has challenged the Governor’s decision in the High Court. The next hearing in the matter has now been scheduled for 28th of this month, when the court will also hear the contempt petition against Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for leaking his letter written to the Prime Minister to the media.Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Gujarat Governor Dr. Shrimati Kamla had appointed Retired Justice R.A. Mehta as State Lokayukta on 26th August by exercising powers under the state Lokayukta act. In the next hearing, the court will also hear the petition of Leader of Congress Legislative Party Mr. Shaktisinh Gohil who wants to join in as party in the contempt petition.
