Gujarat HC grants bail to Hardik Patel in sedition case

Gujarat High Court today granted bail to 23-year-old Patel quota agitation leader Hardik Patel in a sedition case. However, he has been asked to stay out of Gujarat for six months and submit his passport to the police. <br/><br/>Hardik Patel was arrested in October 2015 after his agitation turned violent in July 2015. He was first arrested by the Surat Police after a video became viral in which he was heard asking a distressed Patel youth to kill "a few policemen instead of committing suicide". <br/><br/>Subsequently, Ahmedabad Police arrested him and his top aides under sedition charges accusing them of trying to topple the State government using violent agitation. According to sources, Hardik Patel will remain in jail for few more days as one more case is still pending against him in Visnagar court.
