Gujarat Government has announced the Gaurav Awards for the year 2011-12 to the distinguished persons contributed in the field of Music, Dance, Drama and Folk Art. The persons selected for the Gaurav Awards are Mrs.Piyuben Sarkhel from Rajkot, Mr.Munjal Mehta from Ahmedabad and Mr.Ramakant Sant from Vadodara for Music.In Drama category-Mr.Kantibhai Patel and Praful Bhavsar from Ahmedabad and Mr.Ramesh Turi from Rajkot. In Dance category, Mrs.Kashmira Trivedi and Miss Shital Makwana from Ahmedabad and Mrs.Rita Chokshi from Surat, while in the folk art section, Mr.Gopalabhai Barot and Mrs.Meenaben Patel from Ahmedabad and Mr.Mugatlal Nayak from Patan. Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that award will carry Rs.51,000 cash prize, citation and showl. Award will be conferred in a function to be organized later this year.
