Gujarat: Filing of nominations for first phase gains momentum ahead of assembly elections

In Gujarat, filing of nominations for the first phase of assembly elections has gained momentum as only four days are left to submit the nominations for first phase of polls.<br />''<br />''Our correspondent reports that a total of 41 nominations were filed yesterday alone which include candidates from mainstream parties. With this, the total number of nominations submitted for the first phase has gone up to 53. The filing of nominations for the second phase has also begun yesterday.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, in a midnight development, Congress released the second list of 46 candidates for the first phase of assembly polls. A report from our correspondent:<br />''<br />''In the second list, Opposition Congress party has repeated most of the sitting MLAs from Saurashtra region. This includes former opposition leader and sitting MLA of Amreli Paresh Dhanani, working president and Tankara MLA Lalit Kagathara, Khambaliya sitting MLA and former MP Vikram Madam. The party has announced the names of 89 candidates so far. Meanwhile, ruling BJP has released a list of 160 candidates yesterday which includes candidates for 83 seats that will go to polls in first phase. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party released yet another list of 10 candidates yesterday taking the total number of AAP candidates in this assembly elections to 180. <br />
