Gujarat CM announces Phase-2 of SAUNI Yojana to be completed before 15th August

<span style="color: #222222;">Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced that the Phase-2 of the Saurashtra-Narmada Avataran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana will be completed before 15th of August. Mr. Rupani instructed the State Water Resources Department to complete the work of the scheme, which has an objective to meet the drinking water requirements of Saurashtra and Kutch regions with Narmada waters.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Chief Minister Rupani had held a high-level review meeting with senior officials in Gandhinagar last evening to review the progress made in the Sauni Yojana. Mr. Rupani said that the Sauni Yojana is a vital engineering skilled scheme to fill 115 water reservoirs of arid Saurashtra and Kutch region to meet its drinking and irrigation requirement. This will provide benefit of Narmada water to the 737 villages of 11 districts and 31 cities of this region. He said that the scheme provides water to as many as 16 dams. The work of the second phase to fill the 57 water reservoirs through laying pipeline networks of 541 kilometres is on the verge of completion.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">An amount of 14,707 crore rupees has been spent for four links of all the three phases of SAUNI Yojana. Out of this, 6,854 crore rupees were spent on the first phase while the second phase is about to complete with the cost of  6,973 crore rupees. The first phase of Saurashtra-Narmada Avataran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Naredra Modi in 2016. </span><br />
