Gujarat, Chhattisgarh assemblies to hold special sessions tomorrow to ratify GST Bill

Special session of Gujarat and Chhattisgarh Assemblies will be convened from tomorrow to ratify the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax. <br/><br/>In Gujarat, a two-day special session of the Assembly also begins tomorrow to ratify the GST Bill. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports the Bill will be introduced on Tuesday and the discussion and voting, if necessary, will take place the same day.<br/><br/>According to sources, the constitution amendment bill on Goods and Service Tax will be tabled in the house on the first day while discussion and voting if necessary will be take place on the second day. <br/><br/>Apart from ratification of GST bill, the elections of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will also be held on the first day of the session.<br/><br/>In Chhattisgarh, a special one-day session of the Assembly will be held tomorrow to discuss the Constitutional Amendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax, GST. <br/><br/>The bill is likely to be ratified by the Assembly unanimously as the Opposition Congress has already pledged its support to the legislation.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, as Chattisgarh is not considered as a high-consumption state, its government is not likely to benefit immediately from GST. <br/><br/>Opposition congress is already maintaining that the standard rate of GST should not be more than 18 per cent. <br/><br/>The party is holding a meeting of its MLAs tomorrow morning before the session. <br/><br/>While, Chief minister Raman Singh has said Chhattisgarh has no objection to GST provided the Centre's compensation, on loss due to phasing-out of Central Sales Tax, is given on time.
