Gujarat ATS arrests Pak based Hizbul Mujahiddin terrorist; Two suspected terrorists nabbed in Mumbai for plotting to blow up ONGC oil tanks

Anti-Terrorist Squad of Gujarat police has arrested Pakistan based terrorist Hizbul Mujahiddin. Addressing a Press Conference this evening in Ahmedabad, the State ATS chief Mr.Ajay Tomar said that suspected terrorist Bashir Ahmad Baba alias Pepsi bomber was arrested last night from Anand. He had been in Ahmedabad and its surrounding areas since 20th February. Mr.Tomar claimed that Bashir Ahmad- basically a resident of Kashmir was in contact with Bilal Shera- who works for Hizbul Mujahiddin in Pak Occupied Kashmir. According to police, Bashir Ahmad Baba already visited Pakistan twice during the last four years- and was instigating youths for short term explosives trainings in Pak occupied Kashmir. Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Bashir Ahmad Baba came to Ahmedabad from Srinagar for medical training for cut-lip children organized by Kashmir based Kimiya Foundation but instead participating in the training, he found in contact with Hizbul terrorists in Pakistan.<br/>AIR Ahmedabad correspndent reports that the Gujarat ATS has foiled Hizbul Mujahideen plot to recruit youth for short term explosive training in Pakistan. Kashmir based suspected terrorist Bashir Ahmed Baba- arrested by Gujarat ATS was allegedly recruiting youths for the sake of Rs.15 thousand per youth. In a police interrogation, he claimed that Hizbul Commander based in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Bilal Shera has already trained 3 thousand youth. Suspected Terrorist Bashir Ahmed Baba also found involved in conducting recce of key sites- in Ahmedabad including ISRO and Akshardham temple.<br/>In Maharashtra,the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) claimed to have foiled a major terror plot to blow up state-run Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) terminals in south Mumbai and a mall by arresting two suspected terrorists today in Mumbai. Later they were remanded to police custody till 18 th of this month by a city court.<br/>Talking to media persons, ATS chief K.P Raghuvanshi that the arrested duo have been identified as Latif and Riyaz, who were from Mumbai. ATS chief also said that the duo were nabbed after a tip-off that they were allegedly plotting to blow up oil tanks of the ONGC and a mall in Mumbai. He also said the duo had conducted a recce of the sensitive Nhava-Sheva area of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and also its surroundings. Police have also recovered several maps of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and the sites they were planning to strike from them. They are suspected to have links with international terror outfits. Mr Raghuvanshi said as per initial investigations they were trained in Pakistan and were in touch with some Pakistani terror outfits. However, he declined to identify the terror outfits.
