A large numbers of candidates are likely to file their nomination papers for 95 Gujarat Assembly Constituencies for the second phase which ends today.

Our correspondent reports that 846 candidates are in final fray in the first phase of polling to take place on 13th of December Chief Minister Narendra Modi today filed his nomination papers as BJP candidate from Maninagar seat in Ahmedabad city today.

Congress which has fielded Shweta Bhatt, the wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt against Narendra Modi also filed her papers. In yet another development, Congress has decided to field its senior leader and former Chief Minister Shankarsinh Waghela from Kapadwanj seat.

Former Home Minister for State in Modi Government and prime accused in Sohrabudding Shaikh fake encounter case Amit Shah will also file his nomination papers from Naranpura seat today.
