The Gujarat IPS officer accused in Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, DG Vanzara has tendered his resignation accusing the state Government of betraying him. Suspended IPS officer Vanzara has been in jail for the last seven years for his role in three fake encounters -which include the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter and murder of his wife Kauserbi, 2006 Tulsiram Prajapti encounter and 2004 Ishrat Jahan encounter.

In his 10 page resignation letter addressed to Additional Chief Secretary of the state, Vanzara blamed the Narendra Modi Government of extracting political mileage out of the encounters and dumping foot soldiers like him in jail.
