Campaigning in Gujarat for the first phase of polling comes to an end this evening as leaders of major political parties are busy wooing voters. A total of 87 constituencies in Saurashtra, South Gujarat and some parts of Ahmedabad district will go to the polls on 13th December.
Our Correspondent reports that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be addressing three public meetings at Jamnagar, Amreli and Sanand today, while Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani is also campaigning in the Saurashtra region.
Earlier, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that only Congress can give good living conditions to the common people and now time has come to bring change in Gujarat. Addressing a public rally at Dakor in Kheda district in Central Gujarat yesterday, Mrs. Gandhi said that BJP Government in the state has misused the money given by the Centre for the welfare of poor people.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has launched a sharp attack on Congress alleging that its vote bank politics has destroyed the country and the party had no agenda for the Assembly elections.Mr.Modi accused the Congress of spreading lies and defaming Gujarat besides putting obstacles in the development of state
