Electioneering for the first phase of Gujarat assembly elections has reached its peak as campaigning for this phase comes to an end this evening. A total of 87 constituencies in Saurashtra, South Gujarat and some parts of Ahmedabad district will go for poll on 13th December. Political fate of 846 candidates including 46 women, will be decided by over three crore, 80 lakh voters.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said that only Congress can give good living conditions to the common people and now time has come to bring change in Gujarat. Addressing a rally at Anand in Kheda district in Central Gujarat yesterday, Mrs. Gandhi said that BJP Government in the state has misused the money given by the Centre for the welfare of poor people.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has alleged that the vote bank politics of Congress has destroyed the country and the party had no agenda for the Assembly elections. Our correspondent has filed this report:
