Guj Assembly elections: one voter polling station in Gir

Gujarat will have a polling booth for a single voter, to cast vote in the forthcoming assembly polls. The one-voter polling station in Gir forest will be set up in village Sapnesh Biliyat in Junagarh district under Una assembly constituency. In this polling station, 59 year old Guru Bharat Das, who is a temple priest, will cast his ballot during the first phase of polling on 13th December.The Election Commission has also identified Shyam Saran Negi as the oldest voter in Himachal Pradesh. Negi, who is 95 years old, lives in Kalpa village and retired from Government Primary School in 1975 . Negi was among the first to cast his vote in independent India’s first Election on 23rd October 1951. Interestingly, the world’s highest polling booth will also be located in Himachal Pradesh at the height of 15000 feet above sea level. This Polling Station will be at Hikkam in Lahaul and Spiti Assembly Constituency located on motorable road. The Hikkam Polling Station will serve 333 voters, comprising 180 male and 153 female voters.
