Guj administration sends compliance report to EC on filing FIRs against Modi

The Gujarat administration has sent the compliance report to the Election Commission on filing of FIRs against Narendra Modi.

Two FIRs were filed against Mr. Modi yesterday for violating the election code of conduct by displaying the BJP symbol and making a speech outside the polling booth after casting his vote.

Sources said, the compliance report has been sent, and it is under examination of the Election Commission.

Our correspondent reports that two FIRs were registered against Mr. Modi, while one FIR was filed against television channels which broadcast the press conference.

Sources in the crime branch of Ahmedabad police said, the FIRs were registered under the Representation of the People Act, which provides for imprisonment up to two years or fine or both.

Meanwhile, addressing a rally in Tirupati last night, Narendra Modi said that no FIR has ever been lodged against him in his entire life, and that he will never forget this day. He said, he has not committed any offence that warranted an FIR.
