Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, DoNER Dr Jitendra Singh said that GST will bring down tax on several goods and provide relief to the poor and lower middle class. He was addressing a meeting in New Delhi which had been convened to discuss the various aspects of GST rollout in North-Eastern States.<br/><br/>Dr Singh informed that after the implementation of the new tax regime from 1st of July, a wide range of items including wheat, rice, mustard oil as well as medical items will actually have a lower tax rate. He said, there are also certain goods where GST imposes zero tax. <br/><br/>Taking cognizance of the Internet-connectivity issues in Northeast, the Minister said that a number of easier options are being worked out. <br/><br/>Dr Singh also said, a two – day training programme for the Northeast officials is being conducted on regular basis. <br/>
