Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said GST holds great potential but is being rushed through in half-baked way with a self-promotional spectacle. In a series of tweets, Mr. Gandhi said, India deserves a GST roll-out that does not put crores of its citizens, small businesses, traders through tremendous anxiety. He said, unlike demonetisation, GST is a reform that Congress has championed and backed from the beginning. But like demonetisation, he said, GST is being executed without institutional readiness.
