GST Council discussed issues related to IGST; Council to meet again on 16th Jan

The GST Council today discussed issues related to Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST). Briefing reporters at the end of two day meeting in New Delhi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, of the eleven chapters of the IGST, 10 chapters have been approved. <br/><br/>He said deadlock over the issue of dual control and high sea taxes remained inconclusive. He said, the issue of high seas being part of Centre or state territory is close to resolution. Mr Jaitley said, dual control is a complex issue but most of the states have a very positive approach. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, the next meeting of the Council on 16th of this month would discuss the issue of jurisdiction over assessees as well as try to finalize taxation of territorial waters. On roll out of GST from 1st of April, Mr Jaitley said government is ware of the difficulties and is moving against time. Replying to a query, he said his Ministry has asked states to give month-wise tax revenue loss data to see the impact of demonetisation on their revenues.
