Goods and Service Tax, GST, Council has approved the state GST and Union Territory GST bills to enable rollout of the new indirect tax regime from first July this year. In the last meeting, the council had approved the draft of key supporting legislations, Central GST and Integrated GST. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters after chairing the 12th GST Council meeting in New Delhi today, Mr Jaitley said, supporting GST laws will now be taken up in the Cabinet meeting and after that it will be tabled in Parliament for approval. The next meeting of the council will takes place on 31st of this month for framing of rules for Goods and Service Tax regime. <br/><br/>Finance Ministry had said, the model GST Law will have a clause to enable levy of up to 40 per cent tax, 20 per cent by the Centre and states each. However, the effective tax rates will be kept at the previously approved levels of 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent.
