GST Council approves 7 rules of GST: Jaitley

FM Arun Jaitley said the council approved seven rules of GST and that remaining two rules relating to transition and return are being vetted by a legal committee.<br/><br/>It was decided in meeting of the GST Council to fix tax rates for goods and services in Srinagar today. <br/><br/>Out of 1,211 items, GST rates on all barring six have been decided, Said FM.<br/><br/>Talking with media after the meeting, Revenue Secretary Hansmukh Adhia told Milk will be exempted from GST, food grains to be cheaper. <br/><br/>Cereals will be exempted from tax as opposed to current 5 pc rate. GST rate on coal fixed at 5 pc against current incidence of 11.69 pc; sugar, tea, coffee, edible oil to also attract 5 pc tax. Hair oil, soap, tooth paste to attract 18 pc tax. <br/><br/>GST Council to discuss tomorrow rates on services, may meet one more time if tax for all items not decided by then.
