A Bill for introducing Goods and Services Taxes (GST) in the country is likely to be tabled in the Winter session of Parliament beginning on the 19th of this month. An Empowered Group of State Finance Ministers has already been constituted to suggest Constitutional amendments. Model GST Act Legislation about Direct Taxes code and empowering the RBI to supercede erring boards of private banks are some of the other important Bills to tabled in the session. A legislation for increasing voting powers for foreign entities having stake in private sector banks from ten per cent onwards may also be tabled. Official sources said, 13 Action Taken Report on Ketan Parekh scam is also likely to be introduced.
