GSLV Mark-III lifts off successfully from Sriharikota

ISRO's experimental mission to test heaviest GSLV Mark-III rocket and human crew module has successfully lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. The successful flight testing of India’s heaviest next generation rocket and the crew re-entry module has put the nation at a formidable place in the international space science.

The experiment which lasted to approximately twenty minutes had all the events as pre planned and also gave a boost to the Indian scientific community that it can move forward in its march towards sending humans to space. The 630 tonne GSLV Mark III soared into the skies precisely at 9.30 am from the second launch pad at the Indian Space Centre at Sriharikota.

The crew module separated at 330 seconds, freed itself from the launch vehicle at the prescribed time and made its re entry as planned earlier.

The objective of the 155 crore rupees mission to test the rocket’s atmospheric flight stability with around four tonne luggage and the study of the re entry characteristics of the crew module has been successful even for the very first time.
