GSAT-10’s orbit level raised

In the second orbit-raising exercise, GSAT-10 satellite was successfully raised to 31,822 km from 16,427 km today afternoon by using Liquid Apogee Motor on board the Satellite. The first critical orbit-raising manoeuvre was conducted on Sunday morning when the satellite was successfully raised from 250 km to 16,427 km. This was the second of the three orbit raising manoeuvres planned for placing the GSAT-10 in the Geostationary Orbit. ISRO sources said that the last, orbit-raising manoeuvre is planned on the morning of October 3. Two solar panels and the two dual gridded reflectors will also be deployed later on the same day. India’s heaviest Communication satellite GSAT-10 was injected into outer space from Ariane spacestation in French Guiana on the early morning of September 30th. GSAT-10 will be ready for operational use by November and will have operational life of 15 years. The Satellite has 30 Communication Transponders besides a Navigation payload “GAGAN” that would provide GPS signals of improved accuracy to be used by the Airports Authority of India for Civil Aviation requirements.
