Grenade attack kills child, injures six in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, a child was killed and six people including a woman and a child were injured on Friday when militants threw hand grenades into two houses in southern province of Kandahar. Provincial governor's spokesman Zelmai Ayubi said authorities were investigating why the two houses were targeted. Two of the injured are in serious condition. Meanwhile, a top Taliban commander and his bodyguard were killed during an overnight operation by Afghan and NATO forces in Northern Province of Kunduz. Provincial police spokesman Haroon Aryayenezhad said Mawlawi Bahadur was killed last night in Chahar Dara district of the province. He was appointed as Taliban Governor for the province about two months ago. Taliban has shadow governors in all but one of the 34 provinces in the country.
