Today is Shashthi, the beginning of the greatest Bengali festival Durga Puja. In the evening, the four-day-long festival began with Bodhan and Adhivas- Inviting the Goddess to the earth from Kailash. Security has been beefed up at railways, metro stations and airports. Governor CV Ananda Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Leader of Opposition Subvendu Adhikari congratulated the people of the state on Durga Puja.
