Greater North-South collaboration needed to achieve energy devpt goals: Min Abdullah

New and Renewable Energy minister Farooq Abdullah today called for a greater South-South and North-South collaboration to help achieve national as well as global energy development goals. He said this while inaugurating a two-day Delhi Clean Energy Conference-2012 in New Delhi. Lauding the achievements of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission in bringing down cost per unit of solar energy, the minister said that more efforts are required to make solar and clean energy commercially viable. In this regard, the minister also sought cooperation from the World Bank and concerned stakeholders for financing clean energy that remains a significant challenge in developing countries. Mr Abdullah urged for more investment in research and in improving energy efficiency.
