Grand Alliance formation led to BJP's defeat in Bihar polls: Jaitley

The BJP today said, the main reason behind the defeat of BJP led alliance in Bihar election is the formation of grand alliance of RJD, JD(U) and Congress. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters after the party's Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi, Union Minister Arun Jaitley said, the transferability of votes among the parties of grand alliance was better than the BJP led alliance during the poll. <br/><br/>He said, the BJP respects the mandate given by the electorates in the elections. He said,during the Lok Sabha elections, in Bihar, the three parties of grand alliance fought separately due to which it manged to get more than them.<br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, the BJP President Amit Shah and Organisation Secretary will discuss the outcome of the poll results and reason behind the defeat with the leaders of Bihar Unit. He also said, the party will expand its vote base in the State on the basis of performance of the Central government as well on the party's organisational strength and it will raise the issues related to the people's interest being in opposition.<br/><br/>When asked whether RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's quota remarks impacted poll outcomes, Mr Jaitley rejected this saying that the BJP has accepted the concept of reservation based on social consideration and this is also the stand of RSS.<br/><br/>In reply to a question about action against the BJP MPs Shatrughn Sinha and R K Singh who had in the recent past spoken against party line, Mr Jaitley said, the issued did not figure in the Parliamentary Board meeting. <br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu among others attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Board which was convened to analyse the poll outcomes. Party chief Amit Shah presided over the meet.
