Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said, Government's idea is to make all the public authorities online to deal RTI applications. Briefing about OnlineRTI portal in New Delhi Mr Singh said, out of two thousand government authorities 1,840 have already been included in the online portal and the rest would soon follow suit.<br/><br/>The union minister urged the state governments to fast track the process to dispose the mounting RTI applications. The minister cautioned against the exercises of filing unnecessary RTI applications and thereby wasting precious office hours. AIR correspondent reports that OnlineRTI portal aims at good governance by providing easy access to people through information and communications technology, ICT. <br/><br/>The portal has many features which enable the user to track status of his RTI application and subsequent feedback to the concerned authorities. The 24 X 7 bilingual portal in Hindi and English aims to cut down paper work and delay in disposing RTI applications.
