The Minister of State for Agricultural and Parliamentary Affairs, Harish Rawat today said that the government and social activist Anna Hazare are on the same page, in principle, to fight corruption but differ on the modality to achieve the objective. Mr. Rawat was talking to reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a function. He said, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has stated a number of times that his government is sincere in enacting a strong law to fight corruption, but still Team Anna is resorting to agitation.

Mr. Rawat said that the Lokpal Bill is with the Parliamentary Standing Committee which will be taken up by the government after it receives recommendations from the Committee. He said that the government is committed to an effective legislation to root out corruption from society.
