Health Minister J P Nadda today said, the government is working on multi-pronged strategy to tackle menace of vector borne diseases including Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Uttar Pradesh. Replying to a calling attention motion on spread of Japanese Encephalitis in the country, especially in eastern UP, he said the central government has been providing all assistance to the state government and now it is for them to implement the schemes to control the diseases. He said the new proposed AIIMS in Gorakhpur will further improve the health scenario in the eastern parts of the UP and neighbouring Bihar.<br/><br/>Mr Nadda said the Ministry has supported UP for establishment of paediatric Intensive Care Units in 20 districts for providing critical care support to affected children, Physical medicine and rehabilitation units in three medical colleges. The Minister said JE vaccination has been completed in 197 districts in the country including all the 39 Encephalitis affected districts. He said Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is also conducting research cum intervention projects. He appealed to all MPs to take personal inters to monitor the progress of health programmes in their constituencies.<br/><br/>Moving the motion Yogi Adityanath of BJP said the situation is still grim and number of children's deaths are increasing over the last few years. The member said that in the last six-seven months, 125 children have fallen prey to Encephalitis. He rued that several central teams of medical experts have visited the area, but there is no improvement in the situation.
